Tap into your natural resources to manage stress
and find balance in everyday life

What sophrology is ?

Sophrology is a mind-body method that helps calm the mind and release physical tensions, allowing one to reconnect with their body and its sensations rather than being carried away by the flow of thoughts. It enables individuals to observe and regulate their nervous system by establishing a conscious connection with their body. By rebalancing the functions of the nervous system, it promotes better control between stress phases (sympathetic nervous system) and relaxation phases (parasympathetic nervous system).

Through simple techniques such as controlled breathing, gentle movements, and visualization exercises, sophrology offers effective tools to reduce stress, improve sleep, better manage emotions, and develop mental clarity. Through regular practice, practitioners learn to channel their thoughts, strengthen their concentration, and better cope with the distractions of daily life.

Created in the 1960s by Dr. Alfonso Caycedo, a neuropsychiatrist who sought to improve the practice of therapeutic hypnosis, sophrology combines Western science with Eastern traditions such as meditation, yoga, and Zen. It emerged during a time of profound societal changes, when yoga was gaining popularity in the West, cultural norms were being challenged, and many countries were achieving independence, thus offering a modern response to emerging needs for mental and emotional well-being.

Sophrology is proactive—practitioners take an active role in their well-being by awakening and strengthening their inner resources. Rooted in a scientific understanding of the brain and body while drawing inspiration from ancient Eastern wisdom, it serves as a practical tool to navigate daily challenges with clarity, calm, and balance, offering a path to a more harmonious life.

Ways to Work Together

Sophrology is a powerful method to reduce stress, improve sleep, build self-confidence, and manage emotions. It combines relaxation, breathing techniques, and visualization to harmonize the body and mind.

Private sessions

Private sessions provide a highly personalized approach to sophrology. Whether in-person or online, these sessions are tailored to your specific needs and goals.

  • The first session: Lasts 1.5 hours to allow a thorough understanding of your concerns and objectives.
  • Follow-up sessions: Typically 1 hour each and focus on evolving themes, such as preparing for an important event, managing anxiety, or enhancing self-confidence.

Each session is adapted to your pace, ensuring that your practice aligns with your personal journey.

Group workshops

Explore the benefits of sophrology in a shared and supportive environment. Group workshops are offered in English or French, and they create a space for collective learning and personal growth.

These workshops typically focus on a specific theme, such as stress reduction, improved sleep, or emotional balance. Together, we’ll practice dynamic relaxation, breathing techniques, and visualization exercises tailored to the group’s needs.

Group sessions are perfect for those who enjoy connecting with others on their journey to well-being.

Corporate workshops

Sophrology can also support teams and organizations in fostering well-being and improving performance. Corporate sessions can be regular or one-time workshops designed to address themes like:

  • Stress management
  • Work-life balance
  • Staying calm under pressure
  • Boosting creativity and focus

Workshops can range from 1.5 hours to a full day, depending on your team’s needs. These sessions are interactive and designed to provide practical tools that participants can apply both at work and in their personal lives.

Special Events

Special events are opportunities to dive deeper into relaxation and creativity through collaborations with other practitioners.

These unique gatherings often include complementary practices like yoga, breathwork, dance, or writing workshops.

Held in inspiring locations around the world—including Switzerland, Paris, Bordeaux, Bangkok, Melbourne, and soon Byron Bay—these events celebrate expression, connection, and the joy of sharing activities in a supportive community.

Julia PERRARD

Sophrologist

Welcome! I’m Julia, a French sophrologist with a passion for helping people connect to their inner balance. My journey began in Paris, where I explored various relaxation techniques, including therapeutic massage, hypnosis, and sophrology—the method I chose to specialize in and turn into my profession.

To deepen my practice, I traveled to Asia, immersing myself in the birthplace of many relaxation traditions. I participated in internships and explored techniques such as Buddhist practices, Vipassana meditation, and the meditative art of calligraphy.

My first sophrology workshops began on a beach in the Philippines, where I guided a group of 15 people in discovering the practice. It was through these experiences that I realized sophrology was more than a career—it was a way of life. I understood the importance of embodying relaxation myself to help others achieve it, turning my work into a true passion.

I continued my journey in Vietnam and Thailand, where I regularly led workshops on themes such as finding calm, improving sleep, channeling thoughts for overthinkers, and even mental preparation sessions for Muay Thai fighters. Each country, with its unique culture, taught me that the language and imagery of relaxation vary, and adapting to these differences is key to connecting with people.

Now in Australia, I bring this global experience to diverse audiences, tailoring my approach to each individual or group. For me, sophrology isn’t just a profession—it’s a heartfelt passion and a way to share practical tools for feeling at ease, both mentally and physically.
